Just like before, here's my attempt to describe a placeLawang Sewu
When visiting the city of Semarang, don't forget to visit Lawang Sewu. Lawang Sewu located on the side of Tugu Muda. In english, Lawang Sewu means Thousand Doors. It named like that without no reason, there are so many doors at Lawang Sewu. Almost feel like there's a thousand doors there, when there's only 429 doors at Lawang Sewu. If you don't believe me you can go there and count it yourself. Now the building is already renovated and turned into a museum about the Indonesian trains history. Not only a museum, there's also attractive shows.
Lawang Sewu has an interesting history. The Lawang Sewu building was left by the Netherlands, that's why it have the colonial architecture. It was used to be an administration office of Indische Spoorweg Maatscappij (NIS). That's why if you visit the Lawang Sewu, there will be a train beside the building. The building also have an underground building that used to be a prison for the Netherlands when the Japans arrived. It's rumored that the Lawang Sewu is haunted by the spirit of the prisoners, so it become a popular place for a tourist who loves mysteries. If you want to go to Lawang Sewu, you need to buy a ticket with a price around Rp 10.000 - Rp 30.000. The building will open at 8 am untill 5 pm.
